The Director of Business Development is the executive responsible for leading and overseeing BranchPattern's sales, marketing, communications, and account management efforts. They collaborate closely with the firm's Practice Leads to support business strategy and planning efforts. They play a crucial role in ensuring the firm's business development efforts are aligned with its overall business goals, driving revenue growth, and maintaining a competitive edge in the market. They actively engage the firms seller-doers, who both sell and deliver services, to ensure a cohesive approach to meeting client needs and driving sales. Specifically, this role will work with seller-doers to communicate sales strategy, provide training and development, develop tools and resources, and establish clear performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Strategy:
- Create and implement sales, marketing, and communication strategies to drive revenue growth and expand BranchPattern's market presence.
- Develop and manage business development data and metrics to inform strategy, decision-making, and performance.
- Establish and maintain efficient sales, marketing, communications, and account management processes.
- Ensure effective pursuit strategies, proposals, and presentations for strategic accounts, supporting alignment with client needs and BranchPattern capabilities.
- Establish and manage key performance metrics and analyze market trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in alignment with BranchPattern's core services and future growth objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners, and stakeholders.
Marketing & Communications:
- Oversee BranchPattern's marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with business development goals.
- Oversee external and internal communications, including branding, public relations, digital marketing, and content creation.
- Ensure effectiveness of marketing communications that represent the firm’s expertise, capabilities, and value to target markets.
- Ensure effectiveness of marketing campaigns that increase brand awareness and promote service offerings.
- Ensure effectiveness of marketing collateral, including brochures, case studies, newsletters, and website content.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the marketing and sales teams to support BranchPattern's business development goals.
- Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring that marketing, business development, and other business initiatives support one another.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills of employee-owners and improve their ability to contribute to BranchPattern's business development goals.
- Collaborate with technical teams to align business development and marketing initiatives with BranchPattern's service offerings.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes to manage sales goals and financial targets.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in business development, marketing, or communications, ideally within the engineering, building science, or professional services industries.
- Proven experience developing and executing business development and marketing strategies that have resulted in measurable growth.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling presentations and proposals.
- Knowledge of the consulting engineering and building science markets is a strong plus.
- Proficiency with CRM tools, marketing automation, and data analytics platforms.
