Position Summary


The Director, Brand Communications’ mission is to create and implement comprehensive marketing and communication plans that drive brand awareness and customer affinity, and foster sales growth. This includes the development and execution of Branding, Communications, and Content Strategies, bringing a unified Brand narrative and the resulting content plan and, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, initiatives, and market trends, leveraging relevant KPIs and customer insights to ensure the corporate brand's health and its continued evolution. The responsibilities encompass developing broad-reaching brand strategies and targeted initiatives to increase traffic, loyalty, and retention through Paid, Earned, and Owned Media Channels. This individual will lead the development and execution of seasonal campaigns, collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless planning, and provide marketing insights that support key business initiatives. In addition, the individual will be responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring the success of comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations strategies for the wet n wild® brand to ensure awareness growth and engage new and strengthen/retain existing consumers, beauty editors, and beauty enthusiasts. This individual will oversee and drive the brand voice and ensure it is consistently applied across all media, including paid, earned, and owned. The Director, Brand Communications will oversee strategic brand storytelling and develop/cultivate programs and relations with key influencers to elevate the Brands. The Director, Brand Communications will report directly to the VP of Brand Marketing and is responsible for supporting them and the team through strong and transparent communication skills and collaboration, partnering closely with adjacent Creative and Product peers in a fast-paced, hands-on, growing cosmetics company with an indisputable reputation.


Essential Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities



  • Brand & Content Storytelling and Engagement: Showcase brand impact by developing compelling content and storytelling to grow brand awareness and relevance.

  • Owned Media: Drive qualified traffic and engagement through organic marketing initiatives across owned digital channels, including social, web, newsletters, and events, while connecting the brand to demand. Integrate brand-building opportunities into revenue-generating outcome-based campaigns.

  • Paid Media: Drive the campaign strategy and media plans from concept to execution. This includes the creative process, from idea to brief to asset development, in collaboration with the in-house Creative Team. Oversee the campaign planning process and ensure all phases deliver marketing activation plans per objectives, including timely deployment, management, and optimization.

  • PR: Lead the public relations strategy, media outreach, and event planning. Elevate the brand and the marketing function through key opinion leaders, influencers, and beauty editors.

  • Influencers and Partnerships: Guide partners on brand priorities across brands, products, and categories. Integrate and leverage partners for high-impact programs to engage our audience through relevant co-branded acts and co-marketing programs.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of brand and social marketing professionals responsible for creating category-defining brand experiences and compelling content. Identify and implement operational and process efficiencies that lead to continuous improvement in cross-team collaboration.

  • Leverage data, market insights, marketing tools, and the spectrum of marketing channels to develop and execute impactful strategic recommendations

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of marketing methodologies, best practices, and processes

  • Manage external agency relationships

  • Perform other duties as needed and directed by management



Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications


Education & Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications; or related field; master’s degree preferred.



  • 7-10 years of experience in brand marketing, content marketing, marketing communications, and/or brand management. 5 years of experience in CPG, Beauty, and Personal Care preferred.

  • 3-5 years of leadership managing high-performing brand, content, marketing, or creative teams.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in brand development.

  • Ability to develop strong, positive, and constructive relationships with editors, influencers, and all media representatives.

  • Experience with branding approaches and strategies.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media tools.

  • Strong written communication skills; presentation skills; influence/interpersonal skills and analytical skills required; Good problem-solving skills required; Strong editing and proofreading skills.

  • Proven team-building skills.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Proficient in marketing software (i.e., Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)

  • Highly proficient in design copy and general marketing guidelines

  • Highly proficient in brand development and multichannel marketing concepts

  • Proficient in creative process, marketing, graphic design, and brand development

  • Ability to analyze market trends, anticipate opportunities, and develop strategic insights

  • Ability to drive, influence, and collaborate across numerous functional areas

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to manage and mentor a team

  • Strong communication and decision-making abilities

  • Strong creative thinking and leadership
