Position Summary






As the Director of Brand and Communications at Versiti, you will play a critical and pivotal leadership role in positioning Versiti for continued growth, operational profitability, and enhanced brand prominence. Reporting to the EVP and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Director is instrumental in shaping and advancing our national brand identity while overseeing comprehensive communications strategies. This role encompasses leadership across public, community, and media relations, social media storytelling, integrated brand planning, national partnerships, and oversees communications for the Versiti Blood Research Institute. Your work will drive the development and execution of world-class activations that align with Versiti's mission to become a nationally recognized leader in blood health innovation, service, science, and medicine.









Responsibilities






  • Strategic Brand Leadership *Oversee the development and execution of integrated branding strategies across Versiti’s five primary Service Lines and multistate footprint. *Lead the creation and implementation of impactful brand campaigns that drive Versiti’s visibility and competitive advantage. *Inform and inspire coherent brand efforts designed and delivered by state leadership to engage donors and stakeholders with the Versiti mission at the local level. *Provide strategic guidance to the Creative Services team, informing and leading the development of creative assets used in digital, social, and traditional media. *Ensure the creation of high-quality, innovative content that supports Versiti’s global brand goals and resonates with target audiences.
  • Communications Strategy & Management *Direct PR and Media strategies to enhance Versiti’s reputation and media presence. *Manage Social Media Storytelling to engage diverse audiences and elevate Versiti’s digital footprint. *Oversee communications for the Versiti Blood Research Institute, ensuring effective dissemination of research advancements and organizational achievements. *Lead corporate communications efforts to build and maintain a positive organizational image and manage key stakeholder communications.
  • Expansion & Integration Branding *Oversee branding strategies related to service expansion, mergers, acquisitions, and geographic growth, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with Versiti’s brand identity. *Provide communications and brand counsel to advance Versiti’s philanthropic, blood collection, and service line expansion strategies.
  • National Partnerships & Sponsorships *Lead the strategy for national partnerships and sponsorships, activating the Versiti brand in conjunction with prominent commercial, sports, and nonprofit brands. *Develop and grow partnerships to achieve increased in-kind and sponsorship revenue year over year.
  • Financial Management *Lead the development of the overall Marketing budget, collaborate with Service Areas in their marketing budget development, and manage and monitor the full department budget to ensure expenses are within approved targets. *Implement systems to measure financial outcomes, monitor the success of plans/programs, and take appropriate action to maximize return on investment. Utilize visual management, effectiveness, and resource utilization metrics.
  • Team Leadership & Development *Build and lead a high-performing team across brand, communications, and public and community relations teams. *Cultivate a collaborative and innovative team environment, presenting strategic plans and creative concepts to internal stakeholders and senior executives. *Exhibit exceptional leadership skills with a proven capacity for collaboration and team building, driving dynamic and creative outcomes by engaging a diverse array of people, teams, and perspectives.

Qualifications






Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, design, or a related field required
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in brand management, communications, and creative leadership, with a proven record of accomplishment in developing and executing large-scale, impactful campaigns desired
  • Demonstrated success in managing public relations, media relations, and community relations and understanding the relationship between them required
  • Experience in overseeing brand strategies for service expansions, mergers, and geographic growth desired
  • Proven ability to lead corporate communications and provide strategic brand counsel required
  • Experience in developing and managing national partnerships and sponsorships, with a track record of increasing revenue desired

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong portfolio highlighting expertise in brand leadership, social media, PR, and creative campaign management required
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate strategic concepts and creative ideas to diverse audiences required
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects effectively required
  • Competency in financial management, including budget development and performance measurement preferred
  • Strategic and executional prowess with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset required
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with a sound sense of ownership and accountability required
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior, with a passion for storytelling and a keen interest in emerging trends and cultural relevance required
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to building and leading high-performance teams preferred
