Job Description: Personal Brand Manager / Special Assistant

Location: New York Metropolitan Area (Hybrid/Remote)

About the Role

You will work directly with Matt Ross, Founder of One RIver School of Art + Design and former CEO of the School of Rock.  Matt is a recognized pioneer in the arts education field and serial entrepreneur with a singular passion for personal and creative growth.

As the Personal Brand / Special Assistant you will play a pivotal role in elevating Matt Ross’ profile as a thought leader in the personal development space. Your mission will be to manage all aspects of brand promotion, audience engagement, and marketing execution leading up to and beyond the launch of his first book titled Grow or Fold,scheduled for January 2026 release.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic marketing professional who thrives in personal branding, digital marketing, social media and publicity. You’ll work closely with Matt to craft and implement a marketing strategy that drives book sales, increases speaking engagements, and builds a loyal community around his message.

Key Responsibilities:

Brand & Content Strategy: Develop and execute a personal brand strategy, ensuring a consistent and engaging presence across platforms.

Website Management: Oversee website updates, SEO, blog content, and optimization for lead generation.

Social Media Management: Create ,manage and oversee content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and other relevant platforms. Engage with followers and drive audience growth.

Publicity & PR: Pitch Matt for media appearances, interviews, podcast guest spots,and feature articles. Work and help to manage PR firm. Maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers.

Marketing & Promotions: Develop campaigns for the book launch, events, and speaking engagements, including email marketing and advertising strategies.

Community Engagement: Build and nurture a community of readers and followers through engaging content, live Q&As, and newsletter interactions.

Event Coordination: Assist in planning and attending book signings, speaking engagements, industry events.

Analytics & Reporting: Track social media engagement, campaign performance, and audience growth to optimize marketing efforts.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years of experience in personal branding, marketing, PR, or digital media.
  • Strong knowledge of social media trends, content creation, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Experience with website management (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar platforms).
  • Skilled in email marketing (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or similar platforms).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Established media/publicity contacts in the personal development or publishing industry a plus.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Passionate about personal development and leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $65,000-$90,000 depending on experience
